Loud noises can distort our physical and mental health. It can even cause high blood pressure and depression. The New York Times calls it the new second hand smoking. Growing up in the biggest village in the world: Amsterdam, the inevitable noise of the city is relatable and has major influencer on the mental and physical prosperity of the inhabitants.

INSIGHT

9/10 adult New Yorkers are exposed to loud noises.

CONCEPT

Different sound waves lead to various states of mind. Being hit by noise can literally feel like a slap in the face, therefore we portrayed New Yorkers being hit by an invisible force: noise. The sound waves disrupt the faces according to where the noise is coming from and the position of the DOOH. Whenever a subway moves through, the distortion of the face begins. These DOOH are located in loud areas of the city.
